For title influences we first watched 'The Possession' trailer. We saw that the title font used for this was quite simple, plain and bold. Also the word 'Possession' was made bold and so looked significant which we liked. We also liked the contrast of black and white, black for the background with the title in various languages and then white for the title which makes it stand out more and become more apparent.
The second trailer we looked at was 'The Exorcist', just liked 'The Possession' this trailer made one word look more significant than the other. By using the colour red for the word 'The' shows us that it represents blood and so emphasises the Horror featured in the film. Also by using white on the word 'Exorcist' it shows the audience straight away that the film is based on an exorcist and so gives away the plot of the story effortlessly. The font used in this trailer is bold and simple which me and Faye saw was common for Horror films. We liked the font used in this trailer as it is bold and is in some ways eye catching as it is stands out as the background is quite dark.
The third trailer we looked at was 'Insidious', this title had the most simple font and background out of all the trailers we looked at. By doing this it gets the audience to focus just on the name and not anything else. It also doesn't give anything away unlike on the 'The Exorcist' trailer it had the main character in the background which makes the audience look at the character instead of the title. We liked the font used as each letter has a part of it faded out which gave an old creepy effect. Again on this trailer the title is quite simple but with small effects that give off a creepy old look shows which genre the film is.
The fourth trailer we looked at was 'Sinister'. We liked the background of this title because it's quite simple, but at the same time it looks quite scary and relates to the genre of the film. We also like how the corners of the background are darkened to add to the effect. We think the font is different but simple and we wanted to use a font like this for our title. Finally, we like the way the letters are slightly blurred and smudged at the bottom. It just gives the title a bit more of a variety and makes it look more interesting and relates to the idea of 'Sinister.
The fifth and final trailer we looked at was 'The Grudge'. We really liked the font and thought it was really different and unusual and didn't really look like it would be a horror film. However, the background of the title makes up for this. Again, there is a contrast between the black background and white font. The film is about 'demons' and 'ghosts' and so the smokey effect in the background gives a feel to this and allows the audience to get a idea of what the plot of the film is before it has even started.
