Film Influences

 These are the main films that have influenced us and given us the ideas that we have. All these films are horror films and are all about possession/psychological damage and monsters/murder. We have decided to create this type of film because personally we enjoy watching them ourselves and find them really interesting.
     Each film has generally the same sort of story but they tell them differently which we found really interesting.

Insidious

We love Insidious because we love the idea of a young boy being lost in his own dreams and having to find his way back but being trapped by "the darkness". We also love the idea of the young boy being lost because of the house rather than ghosts that live in the house. Finally, we also really liked the fact that the young boy had to be rescued by his father and that what he is going through is genetic.

The Conjuring 

The Conjuring is also one of our favourite horror films. We love the location because we are planning to use a big, old house in our trailer and so we found it inspired us. We also love how just one character in the movie gets possessed by what used to live in the house and we really want to aim to do that with our character in our trailer as well because we think it's really different and not typical.

Mama

We also found Mama a really different film to watch. We loved the idea of 2 little girls being lost and abandoned and then being raised by this monster they called 'Mama'. We found the story line extremely interesting because it wasn't very stereotypical or common which is why we enjoyed it so much. We also loved that the main characters were 2 young girls because it was different and we got to watch how they had become after their upbringing by a 'monster'.

Sinister

Sinister was an incredibly scary movie. We found the plot very odd and interesting as we've never seen anything like that before. We also loved the idea of the main family moving into a house where people were murdered because it made it incredibly gripping to watch because as the audience, we already knew what had occurred there. Finally, we love the use of video tapes in this film. We thought it was extremely different and old-fashioned. The fact that the killer had video recorded the deaths of each families and named the tapes family orientated names like 'Summer BBQ' and 'Family Swim' made the film very disturbing but at the same time, brilliant.

The Possession 

The final film that influenced us is The Possession. We related the most to this film as the main character is a young girl that is taken over by this 'thing' and that is what we're aiming for as well. The young girl became obsessed and mesmerized by this box that she purchased from a yard sale and it slowly takes over her mind and her body until she becomes a completely different person. We have the same idea as this but instead of a box, our main character becomes attracted to this old, abandoned house as it does exactly the same thing.
